Review Of the "Golden Compass"

The Golden Compass(based on the book Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman)although slow-moving is a gripping fantasy world which hooks you in right from the start.Rebel,Lyra Belacqua sets off, with her dæmon,Pan-an animal version of her soul-on a whirlwind journey of ice-bears,witches and cowboys.Although Dakota Blue Richard's(Lyra)is a novice actress she plays the part of Lyra to perfection though I do have to admit her Cockney accent can be trying.Mrs Coulter(Nicole Kidman)is an evil child-catcher who will stop at nothing,Kidman's role though confusing is played to icy perfection.Daniel Craig-AKA James Bond-plays the part of Lyra's aloof uncle Lord Asriel. And for some insane reason there is a rather odd polar bear that is none other than Sir Ian McClellan .............................................................................................................
All in all this is good though I don't recommend taking young children or restless adults as this is rather complicated and long.
